Since our main focus is sanctuary care and TNR, we just don’t have the time (or hands!) to juggle everything that goes into adoptions—applications, meet and greets, events, and all the follow-ups. So we’ve found the perfect solution: we partner with rescues whose mission is adoption.
It’s a win-win for everyone. We take in the ones we’re able to help, get them healthy and vetted—or at least started—and then pass the baton to one of our trusted rescue partners. These are groups we’ve personally visited and truly believe in. They do incredible work, and we’re so thankful to be able to work alongside them. We recently had the opportunity to send 13 of our first-round kittens to rescue for adoption, and even the mama to one of the litters traveled north to our friends at FuRRR to find her forever home. While it’s always a little bittersweet to say goodbye, these kittens brought so much joy and life into the rescue while they were here. Knowing they’ll soon be in loving homes makes every early morning and late-night feeding so worth it. Thank you for cheering us on—with donations, supplies, and all the kind, positive energy you’ve sent to our babies. We feel it. And we love this amazing little rescue village we’ve built together. Thank you to all of our Whisker Warriors !! URGENT INTAKE I don’t know much about it so stay tuned. Will post an update tomorrow. Funds desperately needed!! Supplies are good right now for this one. Immediate need is for vetting! From sponsoring to sharing to buying and selling tickets - we could not have done it without you.
Our monthly expenses are averaging $5k/month so every dollar allows us to keep moving forward to help cats within the community through our TNVR and sanctuary programs. Thanks to everyone's support, we were able to raise over $4,000! The winners for the raffle were as follows: Prize 1 - Greenville Yard Gnomes Father's Day Package - Leslie M. Prize 2 - "Taste of Washington" Gift Card Package - Lucretia G. Prize 3 - Mountain Getaway Package - Harriett H. Thank you to our friends, MaryR, Melissa, Anna, one unknown, and Jonathan (via his daughter Jen) who sent in the food and litter last week. You came through and now our kittens are set for about 2 weeks. Growing kitties have BIG appetites.
The note that came from Jen/Jonathan had me in tears. Jonathan was our amazing friend and volunteer who recently passed away. His love and memory live brightly through his daughter's kindness and generosity. Want to help? We’ve made a special Amazon wishlist just for our leukemia babies. Well… it looks like we’ve created little monsters over here. Or rather—BIG monsters. Those tiny, sickly babies we took in? Long gone. Now we’ve got bouncy, healthy 7-week-olds who zoom around the room like they own the place. They fly up the cactus scratcher, launch sneak attacks on me the second I walk in, and if I dare sit down—boom, my lap becomes the official wrestling ring until they pass out mid-battle. Wanna know what helped them get to this point? Good food. The kind that helps weak little bodies grow strong. Mama needed a boost too so she could keep up with nursing them. We’ve made a special Amazon wishlist just for our leukemia babies. Right now, we only have ONE case left of the food that’s helped them thrive. Can you help us stock their shelves again? The list also includes the litter we’ve found works best for them. Thank you, as always, for loving these babies with us and helping us get them back on track. You will be missed by us all. You came to us in December 2017 after the shelter had over 30 cats surrendered from ONE location. We grabbed you and 12 others. Not all were able to make it out due to being very feral. You were one of the first feral juniors I tried to socialize. I really did try. You were already 8 and half months old though. We shared some tender moments in the beginning but I could see you just needed your space and so you joined our sanctuary and lived a wonderful life here for the last seven and a half years. Your favorite spot was crouched down by the building or inside the straw stuffed igloo there, or in the blackberries. You had so many friends and doppelgangers. It was tough to tell you apart from Shaun. Twin gingers. Goodbye sweet beautiful boy ! I went out the next day and looked around expecting to see you but then remembered you had left us. We were happy to be your guardians and hope to see you again one day. Juan was sponsored through our "Fund-a-Feral" program. If you would like to honor Juan by becoming a monthly sponsor to another sanctuary kitty, please visit our Fund-A-Feral page here. As we step into June, let’s take a quick look back at May!
Kitten Intake: 23 Adult Intake: 7 Transfers: 13 (more on that later this week!) Current Count: 112 cats and kittens in our care or in foster homes What a month it’s been! Kittens in need are showing up everywhere, and while we wish we could help them all, we know each year we’re only able to step in for a few—simply because of limited space and funding. If you’ve ever thought about fostering, now’s the time! Please reach out to us. And if fostering isn’t possible for you but you’d still like to help—donations toward kitten care are always appreciated! You can donate through the link below (just leave us a note that says “Kitten Care” so we know where to apply your gift). Your support helps us cover the basics like food and litter, as well as deworming, vaccines, and medical care to get these little ones healthy and thriving. Thank you for being part of their journey. Did you know... a cat’s nose print is as unique as a human fingerprint?
That’s right! Each kitty has a one-of-a-kind pattern of bumps and ridges on their nose leather (that adorable little triangle they boop everything with). Here’s why it’s noseworthy: Unique nose prints could technically be used to ID cats No two cats have the same pattern It’s basically nature’s signature sniff! Below are noses from our own sanctuary residents. |
