What is Trap-Neuter-Return?
Trap-Neuter-Return (known as TNR) involves trapping unowned outdoor community cats (also known as feral cats), taking them to the vet to be spayed/neutered and vaccinated, and then returning them to their outside homes. This process helps the cats in that it stabilizes and reduces community cat populations allowing them to live happier, healthier lives AND it reduces the number of cats who wind up in the animal shelter. Check out the video at the bottom of this page to learn more about how TNR works if this is something new to you.
Cats who have been spayed/neutered are less likely to develop certain cancers, spray, fight, roam, and will no longer produce offspring - no more kittens showing up in need of homes! With enough people spaying/neutering through TNR, it will eventually make a BIG impact on shelter intakes of cats. Approximately 40% of all cats that enter the Beaufort County, NC animal shelter are euthanized. Be the difference today by spaying/neutering the cats in your community to prevent more cats from being euthanized, death through sickness, from predators, animal cruelty, and death from automobiles.
