Pearl's story is nothing short of miraculous. Found in the middle of the road by a compassionate soul, she was whisked away from danger and into the loving arms of our rescue team. Despite her petite size, Pearl's spirit shines bright. We wasted no time in getting her the help she needed. Thanks to our incredible veterinarian, she received immediate attention, starting her journey to recovery the very next day. Pearl's journey hasn't been easy. From an underdeveloped left eye to battling upper respiratory issues and even a pesky yeast infection in her ear, she's faced it all with unwavering bravery. But here's the best part—despite the challenges, Pearl is thriving! This little dynamo is a bundle of joy, purring her way into our hearts and showing us all what resilience truly means. At just 4-5 months old and weighing a mere 2.2 pounds, Pearl proves that size doesn't dictate strength. Every day, she's making strides, eagerly awaiting cuddles and playtime with her newfound friends. We're overjoyed to see her transformation unfold and can't wait to share her progress with all of you. Stay tuned for more updates on Pearl's journey to health and happiness!

Look at this Floof!! This is Buzz, an orange fluffball of a kitty, who has been living with us since February 2019. He showed up at our sanctuary a couple weeks after another resident's arrival, Woody, so we named him accordingly. Both have called the sanctuary home ever since!
Buzz was estimated to be a young adult when he showed up here, so he's approximately 6 years now. He's quite the handsome young man, tempting everyone to come over and pet him - but he does not stick around for those activities as he prefers the feral life, which is quite alright with us! It's Buzz's birthday this month and we would LOVE to find a virtual adopter for him. Will you be the one to give the gift of monthly support for this handsome boy? A virtual adopter is a monthly donor through our Fund-A-Feral program who helps cover the costs of their chosen cat's care such as food, enrichment, and necessary vetting for as little as $10/month!**
Yesterday was a BIG TNR day and it's all thanks to the help of many. A total of 24 cats were spayed/neutered and vaccinated!
We have been waiting a few months to be able to TNR a cat colony that was originally estimated to be around 15-18 cats. Larger colonies can be hard to do a few at a time since previously TNRed cats can get into the traps and set them off - scaring off the harder-to-trap cats. Which is why we try to get these colonies done on a day that is dedicated just to them so we can get as many cats trapped and fixed as possible to reduce this likelihood. While out trapping, we found out that the true number of this colony is closer to 25! However, we were successful in trapping 20 of them. And we will provide assistance in getting the remaining few TNRed. Our dedicated trapper in Aurora, Barb Jones, assisted with the planning, organization, and trapping (She also brought in some cats from Aurora on the same day, which is why our total is 24. We are amazed at all she is able to do!) The caretaker did a great job preparing the cats for TNR day through acclimation and feeding schedules. She also assisted in trapping - making our job a lot easier! We always LOVE having caretakers help out since the cats are accustomed to them. Then there is Erin Massie, who teaches at Washington High School, who joined in, along with her students, to help too! And we most certainly could not have had such a huge day without Dr. Poffenberger offering to come in on one of her days off to host a mini-clinic for us at Pamlico Animal Hospital. We love our little rescue community. We can always use more volunteers who are interested in doing TNR as well as donations to support the program. To donate, click here. This is Baby, pictured on the left, who came to us two years ago when she, and several other cats from a TNR location, were in an area that was no longer safe for them. They were not wanted on the property and were at risk of being trapped and dumped somewhere else (or killed!!). Thankfully we were able to take them into our sanctuary where they are now safe and spoiled rotten!
Initially when Baby came to us, she was very shy and timid. To provide more socialization time, she was moved into the office with other shy kitties and that was when she met her best friend, Libby! (shown on the right) Baby has really bonded with Libby and she has gradually come out of her shell thanks to their bond and our socialization with her. She has such a cute, little face and one of those precious tiny meows that will just melt your heart. To keep her and Libby healthy, they're both on a special diet, Purina Pro Plan OM (Overweight Management), which helps with Baby's weight and Libby's digestive issues. A virtual adopter is a monthly sponsor through our Fund-A-Feral program who helps cover the costs of their chosen cat's care such as food, enrichment, and necessary vetting for as little as $10/month.** Meet Blackie, a wise and gentle soul who, at the age of 14, has embarked on a new chapter in her life. Blackie spent the past 14 years under the loving care of a wonderful guardian. However, circumstances have led her to the Paws and Love sanctuary where she is now discovering a world of compassion and understanding.
Blackie is a senior cat, and though she may be shy, her resilient spirit is evident as she explores her new environment, taking slow and deliberate steps to acquaint herself with the sanctuary and its feline residents. As she navigates this unfamiliar territory, she is gradually warming up to the company of other sanctuary kitties. We invite you to join our #FundaFeral program, where you can become a vital part of Blackie's journey by sponsoring her monthly needs. It costs an average of $50 per month to provide comprehensive care for a sanctuary cat like Blackie. Your contribution will go towards ensuring she has a safe shelter, nutritious meals, essential medical care, and an enriching and happy environment. Cats like Blackie find a forever home at the sanctuary, and sponsorship plays a crucial role in securing their well-being for life. By becoming Blackie's monthly sponsor, you're not only providing for her basic needs but also contributing to the creation of a loving and supportive sanctuary community. Join us in making a difference in Blackie's life and the lives of other sanctuary cats. Your support through #FundaFeral will not only bring comfort and joy to Blackie but also create a haven for senior cats to live out their golden years surrounded by love and care. Let's come together to ensure Blackie's twilight years are filled with warmth, compassion, and the security of a forever home. Become a sponsor today and be a part of Blackie's heartwarming journey at the sanctuary.
