After that scary moment with the tiny baby, I went out and bought a special high-calorie food for her—and thankfully, she started eating! But of course… then came the diarrhea.
The “best” food turned into a bad tummy, so now we’re backing off that and focusing on getting her to eat more in general, even if it’s not the high-calorie stuff. Everyone was dewormed again—just in case. And I also started them all on Fortiflora… just in case. The next morning, the room didn’t smell quite as bad, which felt like a good sign. I didn’t offer the Baby Thrive this time. Instead, I put down Tiki Cat Baby Mousse—she had shown a little interest in it before. To my relief, she started eating it again, even with the Fortiflora mixed in. She’s also getting more playful now, and her energy level is starting to match the biggest of the litter. That’s a huge relief. With kittens this young, it’s always trial and error. You never really know what will work, what they’ll eat, or what might set off their tiny systems—so I like to have a little of everything on hand. These babies were born under uncertain circumstances, and we still don’t know if they’ll be FeLV-positive. But regardless, we treat every single kitten the same and do our best to give them the highest level of care we can. I absolutely love spending time with them in the mornings and evenings. They really are a fun little bunch.
