Flower got her name because she reminded me of the skunk in Bambi—that sweet black and white coloring was just too perfect (and no, she didn’t stink, thank goodness ). Her babies will follow suit: the girls will be named after flowers, and the boys after herbs.
We wanted to share a little background—Flower came to us through a TNR effort with a bit of an unexpected twist. She is actually the mama of two adult calicos who are also mamas. One of them just had her second litter. If Flower had been spayed earlier, this would’ve all been prevented. But we won’t go down that rabbit hole here—this is a happy update! In the beginning, Flower was with one of her daughters—an adult mama cat who is still nursing and has since tested positive for FeLV. Once we had that result, we separated the families. They’re now in different spaces and both doing well. Flower’s babies… oh my goodness. They are the fluffiest, sweetest, most playful kittens you could ever meet. They’re incredibly easy-going and already know when it’s mealtime—they line up at the door just waiting for me to bring their food in! They recently got a three-level cat tree and have been exploring like little adventurers. It’s been so fun watching them learn to climb higher and higher—such brave little fluffballs. Right now, they’re about 8 weeks old. Last week, they received their first round of vaccines and were dewormed to keep those little tummies happy. A couple of them had some gunky eyes and sneezing at intake, but they’re doing great now. Their sweet faces are being gently cleaned daily with Vetericyn and the water wipes so many of our wonderful supporters sent in. Stay tuned for more updates on this precious family—there’s always something new happening with these curious little cuties!
