Successful TNVR (Trap-Neuter-Vaccinate-Return) starts long before the traps are ever set! When you're planning a large project, preparation is everything. Here are a few key steps we take before trapping day:
Get Property Owner Approval Before making any plans, confirm that the property owner supports the TNVR project. Having everyone on the same page from the beginning helps ensure a smooth process and prevents issues later on. Schedule Surgeries Secure surgery appointments before trapping begins. We try to allow at least one day for trapping beforehand and a couple of days afterward for recovery and monitoring. Create a Feeding Schedule Cats are creatures of habit! Feeding at the same time each day helps them develop a routine, making it much easier to know when they'll be at the colony on trapping day. Communicate With the Community Let nearby residents and feeders know the trapping dates. Reducing feeding locations and withholding food until trapping is complete is incredibly important. If food is available elsewhere, the cats may never make it to the traps! Trap Train A few days before trapping, we place deactivated traps with food inside so the cats can get comfortable entering them. When trapping day arrives, many are already familiar with the traps, making the process quicker and less stressful. In these photos, you'll see some of the cats we've been trap training over the past week. TNVR takes planning, patience, and teamwork, but every surgery means fewer kittens, healthier cats, and a better future for the colony.

We just became aware of this deal happening on Amazon right now for select Purina products - there are two ways to get cash back:
There are some items that qualify for both, like this pack of Friskies canned food that is on our wishlist. We are ALWAYS in need of food - it is one of our highest expenses every month so if you're able to send us a pack or two, that would be wonderful! You can view our wishlist here and search for Purina to view items that may be included. And don't forget to let us know when you send something our way so you can be entered into our quarterly drawing for a one-of-a-kind cat necklace! We have an ANNOUNCEMENT!!
We are officially partnering with Robinvale Designs to offer our donors a chance for one-of-a-kind cat necklaces! How awesome is that?! Pictured are just a few examples of their work. They are planning to begin work on our necklaces very soon (and we'll share those once we get them!), but we were so excited about this that we could not wait to share the news with all of you! And if necklaces are not your thing, you can use them as decorative pieces for ornaments, keychains, purses, and more! So how can you snag one for yourself? Every donation within a quarter will be entered to win the highlighted cat necklace for that quarter. After the quarter is over, we will have a drawing to determine the lucky winner for that necklace! The more often you donate, the more chances you have to win. It's our way of giving thanks for supporting us. Monthly donors are entered for every donation as well. If you're interested in becoming one, check out our Fund-A-Feral program in which you can sponsor one of our sanctuary kitties for as little as $10/month. For one time donations, you can also visit our donation page. If you have been sending us food, litter, or other supplies and would like to be entered into the drawing - please send us an email or FB message. A copy of your receipt will greatly help, if you have one. This quarter runs from July 1 through September 30, 2026 with the drawing for the winner in October. Keep an eye out for an announcement within the next couple weeks of which cat necklace will be available. Please share and spread the word and don't forget to make a donation if you can. Every little bit helps AND you'll have a chance for a one-of-a-kind kitty necklace. |
